ZKsync is starting a ZK token airdrop starting next week: Details revealed

Details about ZKsync’s long-discussed airdrop have been announced. The ZKsync Association, an independent organization established to support the development and sustainability of the ZKsync ecosystem, announced that there will be a total token supply of 21 billion units, of which 3.675 billion will be airdropped. Airdrops will start from next week.

16.1% allocated to Matter Labs

In the statement, which stated that there will be a one-time airdrop, it was informed that token requests will be accepted until January 3, 2025.

49.1% of the tokens will be distributed through ecosystem incentives. Matter Labs and its team, the company behind ZKsync, were allocated 16.1%, while investors were allocated 17.2%.

“We allocated more to the community”

In the statement made by the ZKsync Association regarding the airdrop rates, “Awarding more tokens in the airdrop than to the Matter Labs team and investors is more than a symbolic decision for the community. When the ZKsync governance system launches in the coming weeks, the community will have the largest supply of liquid tokens to direct protocol governance upgrades.”

While ZKsync gave rights to 695,232 wallets related to the airdrop, it was stated that the selection was made with screenshots taken on March 24, 2024 for movements on ZKsync Era and ZKsync Lite.
