Democrats’ party platform disappointing for cryptocurrency investors

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has published its 2024 party platform ahead of the party convention starting this week. The platform of Kamala Harris’ party did not include Bitcoin, blockchain technology, crypto or digital assets in any way.

In the 92-page document, which does not include crypto, economic growth, reducing costs, combating the climate crisis, protecting communities from armed violence and securing borders are detailed as the party’s priorities.

Republican platform embraces crypto

On the other hand, crypto was included under a separate heading in the Republican party platform published last month. In the relevant section, “Republicans will end the Democrats’ unlawful and anti-American, oppressive crypto practices and oppose the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC). We will defend the right to mine Bitcoin and ensure that every American has the right to store their digital assets in their own custody and have the right to trade free of government control.”

It was revealed that Harris‘ team met with executives of crypto companies last month . After Trump’s embrace of crypto, Harris was expected to take positive steps towards the sector. So far, these expectations have not materialised. Alex Thorn, Galaxy Digital’s research manager, pointed out that Harris’ close circle consists of anti-crypto names and commented, “It is almost impossible for Harris to soften or change crypto policies with these people.”
