US-based Coinbase, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, announced that it has made five different cryptocurrencies available to its New York users. In the statement, these cryptocurrencies; It was noted that NEAR, AERO, VET, VTHO and PYUSD. It was also emphasised that users will be able to trade in these assets from today.
Since New York has stricter regulations than other states in the US, the number of cryptocurrencies offered to residents here is also limited. The exchange, which opened XRP and BONK to New Yorkers in May, added RENDER, HBAR, AKT, HNT and APT in June.
On the other hand, New York is important for cryptocurrencies as it is the financial centre of the USA and even the world. Making these assets available in such a region can provide greater depth of liquidity and help attract institutional investors. According to research, 20% of New York’s 8.5 million population invests in cryptocurrencies.
Finally, about 250 cryptocurrencies are traded on Coinbase. The number of assets open to New York is less than half of that.
