After Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement on the BRICS countries and digital currency developments on Friday, it turned out that another important statement was made at the meeting held on the same day. It was stated that BitRiver, Russia’s largest crypto mining company, will create data centres in BRICS countries with the support it will receive from the state fund.

The statement did not specify whether an agreement was made with any BRICS country. The country name was also not pronounced.

Igor Runets, CEO and founder of BitRiver, made the following statements in his speech on the subject:

‘”Together with the Russian state fund, we will build infrastructure for cryptocurrency mining. We will build data centres and use them for certain purposes. This will also enable us to develop artificial intelligence projects”

BitRiver, Russia’s largest mining company, is mostly active in Siberia. The company, which uses the conditions brought by the cold climate in its favour, also obtains energy through hydroelectricity.

In the statements of the parties, it was stated that there are not enough gaps/areas in the world to create data centres in regions with energy resources, so the project is very important.
