US and UK probe $20 Billion of crypto transfers to Russian exchange

The Western world, which has put many Russian companies on the sanctions list due to the Ukraine war and includes cryptocurrency exchanges, has finally started to follow USDT transfers worth up to $20 billion in total.

According to the news of Bloomberg from the US media, the institutions of the two allied countries have decided to follow up and investigate $20 billion USDT made through the Moscow-based Garantex exchange in the last 2 years. The Garantex exchange was included in the list of companies to be sanctioned by Western countries, especially the US, in 2022, immediately after the start of the war.

The name of the experts, who stated that the investigations on USDT transfers have just begun and that it is too early to give details on the subject, was not shared by Bloomberg due to the confidentiality of the news.

With the outbreak of the Ukrainian war, many assets of Russian oligarchs and politicians in the West were either seized or frozen.

It was also known that the Russian people resorted to cryptocurrencies to avoid Western sanctions. Many rich Russians also invest in property in many cities such as Dubai, especially with cryptocurrencies.
