In the UK, where the OKX exchange terminated many cryptocurrency listings due to regulations, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) added 143 institutions to its warning list, including Kucoin and HTX (formerly Huobi) exchanges.
The regulator called the list, which includes exchanges and other platforms, “institutions suspected of not having regulatory authorization in the country and users should be avoid.” The statement does not provide detailed information, but says, “You should stop doing business with this company.”
In the UK, companies must either register with the FCA or obtain temporary permission to provide cryptocurrency services.
In the UK jurisdiction, there have even been bans on advertising for cryptocurrency companies in recent years. Many crypto ads were removed from public transport and bus stops by the FCA.
Announcing that it had received a total of 291 applications since 2020, the FCA had approved only 38 of them.
Finally, the American payment giant PayPal also stopped its cryptocurrency services for its customers in the UK.
