The founder of Sky Mavis, the company behind Axie Infinity, one of the most popular blockchain-based games especially during the coronavirus pandemic, started the day with shocking news. Company founder Jeffrey Zirlin’s wallet was hacked and 3248 ETH worth (approximately $9.7 million) were stolen.
Blockchain security company Peckshield was among the first to announce the news. The hackers, on the other hand, sent the Ether they stole to the crypto mixer application Tornado Cash from the Ronin Bridge in a short time.
Zirlin, the founder of Sky Mavis, stated in his tweet that the incident did not concern Axie Infinity, Sky Mavis or the Ronin Bridge and that their personal wallets were hacked. Zirlin said, “I will get through these days too. “I will continue to work to help people, especially gamers, gain financial freedom,” he said.
As you may remember, the Ronin Bridge was hacked in March 2022, and attackers affiliated with the North Korean, who were later revealed to be behind the attack, stole more than $600 million from the platform. These cryptocurrencies were also washed through mixers and their traces were lost.
