Grayscale adds 6 coins to ‘high potential assets’ list

Grayscale, one of the largest investment companies in the crypto sector, published a report sharing its expectations for the fourth quarter of 2024. The report also included the cryptocurrencies with the highest potential for October, November and December.

The company updated this list, which it also published in the previous quarter, and added 6 new cryptocurrencies. Added cryptocurrencies; SUI, TAO, OP, HNT, CELO and UMA. RENDER, MNT, RUNE, PENDLE, ILV and RAY were removed from the list.

According to Grayscale, the high-potential cryptocurrencies of the fourth quarter are as follows:

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Solana (SOL)
  • Toncoin (TON)
  • Chainlink (LINK)
  • Near (NEAR)
  • Uniswap (UNI)
  • Sui (SUI)
  • Bittensor (TAO)
  • Stacks (STX)
  • Aave (AAVE)
  • Optimism (OP)
  • Arweave (AR)
  • Sky (SKY)
  • Helium (HNT)
  • Lido (LDO)
  • Akash Network (AKT)
  • Aerodrome (AERO)
  • Celo (CELO)
  • UMA Protocol (UMA)

In the report, the following evaluations were made regarding the new members of the list:

Sui is a third-generation blockchain developed by a team of former Meta engineers. Two months ago, it performed an update that increased the transaction speed by 80 per cent and surpassed Solana in this sense. This enabled the network to be used more.

Optimism is helping the Ethereum network scale and Coinbase’s Layer 2 has developed Superchain, which is used by another Layer 2 created by Base and Sam Altman’s Worldcoin.

Celo and UMA both capitalise on unique adoption trends such as stablecoin use and prediction markets. Celo is a blockchain focused on stablecoins and payments in developing countries. It has gained traction in Africa, led by the Opera browser’s MiniPay app. Celo recently surpassed Tron in stablecoin usage. UMA is an oracle network used by Polymarket, which experienced an explosion in the number of users in the election year.

Helium was added for both category leadership and sustainable revenue. Helium is ranked first in the DePIN category. In total, the project has reached over 1 million access points and 100,000 mobile subscribers, generating over $2 million in network fee revenue to date.

Bittensor was added due to the improvement in market structure. The project has emerged as a major player at the intersection of crypto and AI, and has attracted attention for building a global decentralised platform for AI innovation.
