While the regulations on cryptocurrencies are awaiting approval from the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek stated that taxes should also be levied in this area.
According to a special report by Turkiye Newspaper, Minister Simsek made a presentation about the economy to the participants at the AK Party’s consultation meeting in Kızılcahamam. In this presentation, the subject also came to cryptocurrencies.
Simsek stated that steps will be taken to tax both the income from cryptocurrencies and the transactions made:
“It is like this in the world, if there is an income, it should also be taxed. Crypto assets, assets traded on the stock exchange, investment funds… These need to be disciplined”
As it is known, in the last crypto bill, it was stated that there would be a 2% revenue cut in total, 1% for the CMB and 1% for TÜBİTAK. Therefore, if the bill passes the parliament, the regulations will not include taxes for the time being.
