US presidential candidate Kamala Harris, who has been persistently silent about cryptocurrencies until this week, used the word ‘blockchain’ for the first time last night after the word ‘digital assets’ in her speech on Sunday and promised support for this field.
Speaking at The Economic Club of Pittsburgh event, Harris referred to developing technologies as on Sunday evening and used the following statements:
“We will work to be dominant in technologies that will define the next century, such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology and blockchain.”
“He does it to avoid losing votes”
These words of Harris received a positive response from the crypto world. Analyst Adam Cochran claimed that Harris could not support cryptocurrencies too much at the moment in order not to lose votes:
“I know, it’s not enough to say ‘digital assets’. This silence was not good either, but there is progress. Harris cares about technological developments. If he praises crypto today, how many of the cryptographers who voted for Trump will be on his side? Zero. But in a party with Elizabeth Warren supporter groups, there is a small mass that will not sit at home and vote because of her support for crypto. Despite this sensitivity, he still promises support, albeit small.”
