Ethereum founder Vitalik says Shiba Inu outperformed his expectations

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin responded to a question about a donation he made 2.5 years ago. Buterin stated that his SHIB donation to an artificial intelligence institute reached $660 million with a sharp rise in the token. “SHIB has seriously surpassed my expectations,” Buterin said.

Politico, known for its news on political developments in the US and Europe, scrutinised an institution that Vitalik Buterin donated to in 2021. Politico, which used the words “small artificial intelligence group that received a $ 660 million donation” in its title, also questioned Buterin’s donation.

Politico, which questioned donations to the field of artificial intelligence with the Future of Life Institute (FLI), which has about 20 employees in the USA and Europe and is known for its artificial intelligence studies, stated that this institution had only $2.5 million that year.

A user said on X, “This donation may not be exactly 660 million, but according to Politico, it is…” Buterin, on the other hand, did not leave this tweet unanswered. Stating that his Shiba Inu donation was valued more than he expected, Buterin said:

“It’s the same situation as with cryptorelief: I quickly sent a pile of SHIB, thinking it would surely drop 100x in a few days so I had to act fast, and expecting they would be able to cash out at most like $10-25m. But of course SHIB massively outperformed my expectations… “

For this reason, the figure mentioned by Politico may actually be due to the great rise in Shiba Inu.

On the other hand, Shytoshi Kusama, one of the anonymous developers of Shiba Inu, retweeted Buterin’s tweet.

1.2 billion dollars were sent

As it will be remembered, Buterin made a similar donation to FLI to the Kovid research fund CryptoRelief, which was based in India at the same time. Buterin, who burned 90% of the 50 trillion SHIB tokens from Shiba Inu developers, which were worth $1.2 billion at that time (May 2021), donated the remaining 10% to this fund.

The Shiba Inu price rose sharply about 3 months after these donations and broke its own record.

Shiba Inu developers, on the other hand, sent such a large amount to Buterin to promote their own crypto coins, SHIB. Buterin, who was uncomfortable with such a large figure in his wallet, burned most of the SHIB tokens by sending them to an irreversible wallet.
