In El Salvador, the rising star of the Latin American region, President Nayib Bukele gave an important interview to the famous TIME Magazine. Stating that they do not regret their Bitcoin choices in any way, Bukele said, “We have only seen the benefit of Bitcoin.”

“IMF was wrong”

Stating that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has published negative reports many times about El Salvador’s Bitcoin step, Bukele used the following statements:

“None of the events that the IMF said we would suffer from Bitcoin did not happen. They actually stated this themselves in their last report last year. ‘The expected risks in El Salvador did not materialise,’ they said. We have only benefited from Bitcoin. We invested 135 million dollars and now we have over $400 million in Bitcoin. You can also see this in the open wallet.”

“3 years ago you couldn’t even think of these things…”

Stating that US companies now hold Bitcoin in their reserves or at least invest in Bitcoin mining, the young head of state said:

“Bitcoin is even a topic of discussion in the US presidential elections today. We are among the first to take a step, which of course brings a small advantage. Many Wall Street companies are either adding Bitcoin to their reserves or at least investing in Bitcoin mining. 3 years ago, you couldn’t even think of these…”

“I don’t know if it will be the money of the future!”

Stating that they offer Bitcoin as an option to El Salvadorans, Bukele said, ‘I don’t know if Bitcoin will be the money of the future. But I know that this money is also the future. No one is obliged to use it, but we see that those who save with Bitcoin earn money and increase their assets. Those who buy today will also gain profit in the future,’ he said.
