Another important step has been taken in Dubai, which has enacted many positive laws and regulations on cryptocurrencies in recent years. The court stated that contracted employees can receive salaries with crypto.

Dubai court accepts crypto as payment for salary

The United Arab Emirates continues to take positive steps on cryptocurrencies every day. Finally, a Dubai court accepted the request of the complainant, who had made an agreement to receive part of his salary in cryptocurrency but could not receive the payment. The court allowed contracted and legal employees to receive salary payments with crypto.

Therefore, companies will be able to pay salaries with crypto, provided that they specify this in their employee contracts.

The unnamed company employee went to the Dubai court and asked for compensation for unfair labour termination and payment of 5250 EcoWatt tokens that had not been paid for about 6 months.

After examining the complaint, the court ruled that the plaintiff was right and that salary payments with crypto would be valid. Instead of EcoWatt tokens, the court could have decided on a payment to be made with the equivalent of these tokens in fiat money, but crypto payment was preferred.

Last year, it was rejected

The same court did not accept this complaint of the same person last year. The court rejected the payment request, stating that the plaintiff ‘failed to provide evidence’ regarding the value of the tokens. However, the plaintiff made a new request and received what he wanted.
