Terra LUNA’s founder Do Kwon, who had a market value of $40 billion when it collapsed in 2022 and caused a major decline in the crypto markets with a domino effect, also brought the judicial institutions in Montenegro into dispute.
The Supreme Court Prosecutor General’s Office objected to Kwon’s extradition to South Korea. In the statement made, it was stated that the extradition decision made by the Supreme Court was made through an abbreviated process and this situation can only be implemented by the Ministry of Justice.
As it will be remembered, Do Kwon’s extradition appeal to South Korea was rejected by the Court of Appeal on Wednesday.
Which country does Kwon want?
The fact that Kwon would be extradited to South Korea, not the US, was also a major topic of discussion in the crypto world. The extradition of the founder of Terra LUNA to the USA was considered certain. The court in the US was even postponed from February to March due to procedures in Montenegro. There have been many different reports on which country Do Kwon’s extradition will take place.
It was claimed that Kwon preferred South Korea, which gives a maximum sentence of 30-40 years for such offences. The USA can apply exponential sentences in such courts and therefore the penalties are seriously increased.
