Former CEO of Binance ordered to hand over passports to US

New decisions from the court for Changpeng Zhao, who was dismissed as a result of lawsuits filed by US government agencies. While CZ’s ban on travelling abroad continues, he was asked to surrender all of his new and old passports. A person to be selected by the lawyers will accompany CZ in travelling within the US where these passports will be required.

US courts still do not trust Changpeng Zhao, the former CEO of Binance. This practice will continue for CZ, who is not allowed to leave the US despite persistent requests.

There will always be one person with him

During the travel ban, CZ will also have to surrender all valid and invalid passports to a person appointed by his lawyers. This person will accompany CZ on trips where passports are required.

The restrictions on Zhao do not end with this. When the former CEO of Binance will issue a new document, he will have to get permission from the court for this. He will also have to report all of his official movements to the relevant institutions.

As it is known, Richard Jones, the judge of the case against CZ and Binance, banned the famous CEO from travelling outside the US in December. Prosecutors have also repeatedly stated that if CZ goes to Dubai, there is a danger of not returning to the US.

The US Department of Justice had sued Binance and its subsidiary company BAM Trading and Zhao for “not adequately combating money laundering” for violating banking law in the country. CZ accepted the charges in this regard and reached an agreement with the court.

As a result of the lawsuits filed in the US, the Binance exchange agreed to pay a fine of $4.5 billion and CZ $175 million. CZ is currently on trial with a prison sentence of up to 18 months.
