As Donald Trump accelerates his steps towards crypto as election day approaches, his rival Joe Biden continues his counter-moves. Finally, officials from the Biden administration will meet with interested parties to discuss Bitcoin and blockchain at a roundtable meeting scheduled for early July.
According to Bitcoin Magazine, the meeting will be hosted by Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna, who represents California’s 17th district, which includes Silicon Valley. In addition to Biden administration officials, House and Senate officials and American businessman Mark Cuban will attend the meeting in Washington DC. It was noted that the meeting is aimed at ensuring Bitcoin and blockchain innovation in the US.
In a statement from Khenna’s office, it was emphasized that the planned meeting will be the most important meeting to date between policymakers and innovation leaders in the blockchain sector.
Khanna, known for his pro-crypto sector stance, supported the FIT21 bill, which gave weight to the CFTC while limiting the authority of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the regulation of cryptocurrencies.
On the other hand, famous billionaire Mark Cuban, himself a cryptocurrency investor, has been drawing attention with his criticism of the Biden administration in recent weeks. Cuban claimed last week that Biden could lose the election due to his crypto policy. The successful entrepreneur said, “Biden must choose between Gensler and crypto voters. Otherwise, this could cost him the White House.”
Donald Trump, on the other hand, fully supports crypto. Trump, known for his anti-Bitcoin statements during his presidency, is taking a contrary stance in this election period in which he is a candidate again. In his speech at a congress held last month, the presidential candidate said, “I will end Biden’s operation to destroy crypto. I will ensure that the future of crypto and Bitcoin is written in the US.” Trump, who also started accepting donations with cryptocurrencies for his campaign, recently met with officials from Bitcoin mining companies.
Finally, it was written that Biden also started working to receive donations through cryptocurrency.
