It is seen that one of the accounts where high value cryptocurrencies were forgotten received a transfer from Vitalik Buterin, one of the founders of Ethereum. It was stated that this account, to which Buterin sent 50 ETH, left its funds on the Optimism bridge for 7 months.

Arkham also sent a message to Buterin and said, “Vitalik, if this account is yours, you have a million dollars of Ether on the Optimism bridge.”

“If you’re on this list, you may have misplaced a few million dollars”

In the statement made by Arkham, it was stated that millions of dollars of cryptocurrencies were forgotten on bridges and the following statements were used:

“There are dozens of accounts with six to seven figures stuck in bridge contracts, forgotten about. If you’re on this list, you may have misplaced a few million dollars.”

$800,000 in forgotten accounts

It is also noteworthy that an account with the ENS name thomasg.eth has $800,000 left on the Arbitrum bridge. Another surprising situation was that the crypto money remained on the bridge for 2 years. It is also noteworthy that a company account called Bofur Capital left 27 WBTCs on the Arbitrum bridge for more than 2 years. The price of these WBTCs is $1.8 million.
An NFT trader using the name Mike Macdonald on the X platform also appears to have forgotten $117,000 in assets from a CryptoPunks sale in a bridge contract.

As it is known, some bridge applications allow cryptocurrencies to be automatically transferred to accounts, while others require the user to manually request the funds.
