The first day of Apple’s Developers Conference got off to a fast start yesterday. Apple announced a collaboration with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. Some features of ChatGPT will be added to the voice assistant Siri and the operating system.
Harsh reaction from Elon Musk: No woke AI is allowed on my products!
This collaboration drew the reaction of Elon Musk, who has taken a harsh stance against OpenAI since last year. Stating that it is absurd that Apple does not build its own artificial intelligence system, Musk stated that the OpenAI cooperation is more illogical:
“It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy! Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river. I’m going to make a new phone just to combat this. No woke AI is allowed on my products!”
Musk also stated that visitors to their company will be required to hand over their Apple devices at the entrance and that the devices will be stored in a room known as a “Faraday cage”, which prevents electrical conductivity. In this way, Musk will be aiming to prevent internal information from leaking out.
In some of his tweets, Musk also showed some of the questions asked to ChatGPT and the answers given by the system. “Now imagine that a force trained by this kind of artificial intelligence has grown significantly,” the famous businessman said on an illogical answer given by ChatGPT.
Last year, Musk published a letter asking OpenAI to halt AI development for 6 months, signed by more than a thousand developers and investors.
Microsoft founder Bill Gates, known for his billions of dollars of support for OpenAI, said Musk’s request was unreasonable.
Musk also has an artificial intelligence company called xAI. xAI had released its model called Grok as open source. ChatGPT is a closed source application…
