The Mt. Gox exchange, which went bankrupt in 2014 with great fanfare, officially started making payments this summer after 10 years, and 500 BTC was withdrawn from the exchange’s addresses last night. There is no information on the purpose of this transfer by the exchange, which still has more than 44 thousand Bitcoins worth $3 billion.

According to the information provided by the on-chain analysis and tracking firm Arkham; 31.78 and 468.24 Bitcoins were sent from the exchange to two unknown addresses around 04:40.

As you may recall, the exchange started distributing BTC after years in July and gradually distributed these payments via Bitstamp, Kraken and BitGo.

The Mt. Gox bankruptcy administration announced at the beginning of October that it had extended the deadline for payments to October 31, 2025. The exchange, which last signed a large transfer of $700 million in August, later suspended distributions.

Mark Karpeles, who was the CEO of the exchange when it went bankrupt, also launched a European-based exchange called EllipX in September.
