Microsoft can also be added to the companies investing in Bitcoin in the world. According to the company’s notification to the SEC, the shareholders’ meeting to be held on December 10 will be put to a vote on whether or not to purchase Bitcoin.
It was stated that this suggestion to Microsoft was made by The National Center for Public Policy Research, a think tank. It is stated that this organization, which is stated to have adopted a conservative view, made this suggestion within the scope of the political agenda called Project 2025. Project 2025 aims to implement practices such as free market economy, small government effect and low taxes after the elections. Bitcoin’s decentralized structure also attracts the attention of such think tanks.
The board of directors recommended rejection: “Unnecessary”
The vote was also officially reported to the SEC. The notification also stated that the board of directors recommended a rejection vote. The statement stated that this suggestion was “unnecessary” and the following statements were used:
“Microsoft’s Global Treasury and Investment Services teams are conducting extensive research on assets that can be invested. Assets that will provide inflation protection and portfolio diversification are also included in these studies. In past studies, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have also been evaluated. Microsoft will continue to monitor trends and developments related to cryptocurrencies for such decisions to be made in the future.”
It will be the largest company
Microsoft, which is the 3rd largest company in the US with a market value of more than $3 trillion, will leave Tesla and MicroStrategy behind in this sense if it buys Bitcoin. The software company will thus become the “largest company to buy Bitcoin.”
After the news emerged yesterday evening, Bitcoin rose to $68,500, but fell below $68,000 again during the night.
