Cryptocurrency exchange BingX was the victim of a hack attack. On-chain data shows that approximately $43 million of cryptocurrency was stolen from the exchange. Although there were more than 360 altcoins among the stolen cryptocurrencies, the largest share was Ether with $14.2 million, BNB with $6.8 million, ARB with $2 million and BASE with $1 million.
Exchange CEO Vivien Lien said it was a relatively small attack and that losses would be compensated. Lien said, “Deposits and withdrawals have been temporarily suspended. We plan to restart within 24 hours. Customers who have suffered losses will also be paid,” he said.
The hacker converted most of the tokens he seized into ETH and BNB through DEXs such as Uniswap and Kyberswap. Hacer’s detected wallet currently has approximately 1000 ETH and 5 million dollars of altcoins.
The biggest hack attack of this year was organised against the Indian stock exchange WazirX in July. More than $230 million in cryptocurrency was stolen from the stock exchange.
