Founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Alex Blania, Worldcoin aims for Facebook and PayPal-style growth. Speaking at the Block Chain Week in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, Alex Blania, CEO of Tools for Humanity, the company behind Worldcoin, said that they need to increase Orbs devices globally.

“Everything we care about at this point is distribution around the world”

Stating that companies like Facebook and PayPal are only useful because they are adopted by the crowds, Blania said:

“I think fundamentally, similar to other networks that we have seen emerge over the last couple of decades like Paypal or even social networks like Facebook, they only become useful once they are at scale. So everything we care about at this point is distribution around the world and the amount of users that are verified and using the service.”

Worldcoin, a project under Tools for humanity, states that it was established to protect humanity from the negative effects of artificial intelligence. However, the project is under serious surveillance from Hong Kong to Spain, from Colombia to some African countries, and its activities have been terminated in these regions and countries for the time being…

The project scans people’s pupils with a device called ‘Orbs’ and creates identity information about them. Thus, it is aimed that people will be able to verify their information in the future in the light of these pupil details. However, the project, which claims to defend privacy rights, is also under investigation for violating the same rights. People whose pupils are scanned are also given Worldcoin (WLD).

On the other hand, Blania also announced that the project will create its own layer 2 network on Optimism.
