Re-staking protocol EigenLayer has announced its second airdrop programme. A total of 86 million tokens will be distributed to participants. The distribution covers those who staked between March 15 and August 15. Regarding the exact start date of the airdrop, September 17 was pointed out.
EigenLayer, which attracted great attention with its airdrop announcement in April, will distribute 86 million tokens in its second airdrop, accounting for approximately 5% of the total supply. 70 million tokens will be distributed to stakers and active operators. Distributions will come according to the ETH stake rates of the participants.
Active validator sets, rollups, liquid staking protocols, service provider rollups and other participants will receive a total of 10 million; open source participants, early supporters and other participants will receive a total of 6 million airdrops. Those eligible for the airdrop must connect their wallets and verify their identities via the Eigen Foundation’s verification website by September 11.
TVL fell hard
On the other hand, the total locked asset value, which rose sharply in the last part of last year in anticipation of the airdrop, has recently halved. TVL value, which was $20 billion in June, has dropped to $11.5 billion… However, this decline is not only related to Eigen. There are also serious declines in re-stake protocols such as Renzo, Puffer, Kelp and Swell.
New airdrop expectation brought an increase
However, Symbiotic, which is seen as EigenLayer’s rival in this regard, is seeing a serious rise in TVL value. Although it has not announced that it will issue a token, participants have raised the protocol’s TVL up to $1.5 billion in about 2 months in anticipation of this. Symbiotic announced its inception in June.
Andreessen Horowitz, known to have serious investments in the crypto world, invested $100 million in EigenLayer in February.
