Arrested Binance manager in Nigeria requests bail due to health concerns

For 6 months, Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who has been imprisoned in Nigeria in a prison with poor conditions, had to come to court again as a result of the harsh behaviour of the authorities, even his request for a wheelchair was rejected. Experts state that Gambaryan’s physical and mental health is getting worse and worse.

Tigran Gambaryan, one of the two Binance executives detained in Nigeria in February, was not allowed to attend yesterday’s court in a wheelchair as his condition in prison worsened.

Gambaryan, who was sent to prison in March after his fellow administrator escaped house arrest, had long complained about prison conditions and lack of adequate health care.

He started crying

While the trial of Gambaryan, who is being held in prison on money laundering charges, continued yesterday, the executive had to come to court on crutches. The fact that a wheelchair was not allowed despite many requests also drew reaction. It was stated that Gambaryan, whose mental health seemed to be deteriorating as well as his physical health, could not contain himself at one point and started crying.

On the other hand, the court judge later authorised a wheelchair for Gambaryan, who came to court on crutches.

Gambaryan had also filed a human rights case against the Nigerian state after his arrest. Stating that he had not escaped house arrest, the executive had reacted to being sent to prison.

The Nigerian government, on the other hand, disputes allegations that Gambaryan’s health conditions are not good.

The Binance exchange also called on the US government last week and demanded political pressure on Nigeria for Gambaryan.

Binance denies allegations of money laundering through Gambaryan. The exchange stated that Gambaryan was not even in the status of decision-maker.
