The cryptocurrency bill, which the Turkish cryptocurrency community has been waiting for a long time, was announced to the public in detail for the first time recently, and today it came to the TBMM Plan and Budget Commission.
While the commission convened under the chairmanship of AK Party Samsun Deputy Mehmet Muş, some deputies stated that the proposal should be discussed in sub-commissions in the first place.
CHP Izmir MP Rahmi Aşkın Türeli stated that this proposal was not discussed in the sub-commissions and said, “We could have solved this matter in a few days without prolonging it. However, we could only see the bill when it came before us. It was not discussed in the sub-commissions.”
İYİ Party Izmir MP Ümit Özlale said that a detailed meeting should be held in the sub-commissions.
Commission Chairman Muş and MHP Istanbul MP İsmail Faruk Aksu stated that if there is no feedback from the sub-commissions after 10 days from the submission of the proposal, there is no obstacle to the meeting.
Omer Ileri made a presentation
AK Party Information and Communication Technologies Chairman and Ankara MP Ömer İleri also made a presentation to the commission regarding the proposal.
İleri explained that cryptocurrencies have gained more value and interest every year with Bitcoin, which emerged in the 2008 financial crisis, and gave figures.
Stating that the definition of crypto assets was made at the legal level for the first time, İleri said that countries are focusing on trading and custody in the crypto area and that they aim for the CMB to regulate this area in Turkey.
“Foreign platforms are not banned” reminder…
İleri also reminded that the regulations on Turkish platforms do not mean a ban on foreign platforms and said, “We also considered investors trading on foreign exchanges. There is no ban,” he said.
