Bitcoin meeting between El Salvador and Argentina executives

After the election of Javier Milei, the top officials of Argentina and El Salvador, led by Nayib Bukele, who has devalued the country’s currency severely and reduced the number of civil servants in the institutions that burden the state, held a Bitcoin meeting. The meeting took place at the building of the CNV, the securities regulatory agency in Buenos Aires.

In 2021, Juan Carlos Reyes, the head of the National Commission for Digital Assets (CNAD) of El Salvador, the first country in the world to make Bitcoin its official currency, met in Argentina with the country’s head of securities, Roberto Silva, and vice president Patricia Boedo.

The main topic of the meeting, which took place at the building of Argentina’s National Securities Regulatory Authority (CNV) in the capital Buenos Aires, was Bitcoin. El Salvadoran official Juan Carlos Reyes told Argentine officials about his country’s Bitcoin experience since 2021.

They also talked about the growing role of Bitcoin for global economies.

Roberto Silva, head of Argentina’s Securities Regulatory Authority, praised El Salvador’s progress in the Bitcoin world, saying:

“El Salvador has established itself as a global leader not only in the use of Bitcoin, but also in the broader digital assets space. We look forward to strengthening our ties with them and further expanding potential cooperation agreements.”

Juan Carlos Reyes also said that Argentina is a country that is developing more and more in the field of technology and that they will seriously increase their cooperation with them in this sense.

Javier Milei, the new head of state in Argentina, known for his harsh words against central financial institutions and especially the Argentine Central Bank, argues that Bitcoin is a natural reaction to inflation due to its limited supply.
