Wall Street files for 6 Ethereum futures ETFs

The number of companies awaiting Ethereum futures ETF approval from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has reached 6. On August 1, 5 companies filed Ethereum futures ETF applications with the SEC, according to Eric Balchunas, chief ETF analyst at Bloomberg, citing James Seyffart, another analyst at the company.

In addition to the July 28 filing of Volatility Shares’ Ether Strategy ETF, the filings made on August 1 are as follows:

Bitwise Ethereum Strategy ETF (Bitwise company)
Roundhill Ether Strategy ETF (Roundhill company)
Ethereum Strategy ETF (VanEck company)
ProShares Short Ether Strategy ETF (Proshares company)
Grayscale Ethereum Futures ETF (Grayscale company)

Through these exchange-traded funds, investors will be able to invest in the futures contracts of the second largest asset in the crypto market. As is well known, the SEC does not approve crypto spot ETF products on the grounds that they lack investor protection and are subject to market manipulation.

Finally, the fact that BlackRock applied for a Bitcoin spot ETF and added a price tracking clause to the application led to comments that the SEC could approve the request this time. SEC chairman Gary Gensler has also stated many times before that crypto futures ETFs are much safer than spot products.
