Big outflow from US government Bitcoin wallets

Bitcoins have exited the wallets holding Bitcoins seized by US law enforcement from the Bitfinex hacker.

Initially, 1 BTC was transferred from the address starting with 14EGUfpk… as a test. Half an hour later, at 10:11 p.m. yesterday, a transfer of 2,817 BTC worth 170 million dollars was made from the same wallet. At 10:31 p.m., 0.01 BTC was sent from another state-controlled wallet starting with 1DNUjpH…, again on a trial basis. At 10:55 p.m., another 12,267 BTC worth $750 million were sent from this wallet. The total value of Bitcoins is over $900 million at current prices.

One of the Bitcoin wallets controlled by the United States issued 12,267 BTC and the other 2,818 BTC.

It is assumed that the BTCs that were transferred were sold. Details of the sale transaction are expected to emerge in the coming days.

The US government had previously announced that it would begin selling some BTC seized from the operations. It was reported that a total of 41,491 BTC would be sold and that this sale would take place in four parts.

The government controls 212,000 BTC worth $13 billion and 56,000 ETH worth $185 million. These transactions have been taking place since the early years of Bitcoin. BTCs seized in various operations were usually sold through auctions. In 2014, famous investor Tim Draper bought around 30,000 BTC at one such auction.
