Uniswap, the largest decentralized exchange, announced that it will start charging swap fees for some tokens on its web and wallet applications.
In the statement, it was stated that a swap fee of 0.15 percent will be applied on certain transactions to be carried out through the Uniswap Labs interface starting tomorrow. The tokens that will be charged will be ETH, USDC, WETH, WBTC, USDT, DAI, agEUR, GUSD, LUSD, EUROC and XSGD. It was emphasized that these tokens are only subject to fees when traded through Uniswap Labs interfaces on the main network and supported L2s.
While the decision drew criticism from users, Uniswap Labs CEO Hayden Adams said the swap fee was necessary to sustainably fund the company’s development efforts.
Uniswap’s UNI token continued its sideways trend. The token is trading at $4.14 at 20.15 UTC.
